About Me
A Little More About Why I Am a Naturopath & How I Like to Work
For years, I dealt with debilitating migraines. I did everything I was supposed to do—saw doctors, got the head imaging, had the blood work done. Everything came back clear, which ruled out the serious stuff I needed to rule out. But I still needed answers about why I was in pain, still exhausted, still struggling to get through my days.
That's when I added a naturopathic doctor to my healthcare team.
I was open to trying something different and I just wanted to feel better. And slowly, through lifestyle changes and learning to actually listen to what my body was telling me, things started to shift. Not overnight, but steadily. The migraines became less frequent. My energy came back. Most importantly, it didn't feel like I was white-knuckling my way through some impossible health regimen. Once I understood the "why" behind the changes, they just became part of my life.
Years later, I was walking past career fair booths on campus and stopped at the medical doctor table. I thought about it for a moment—but then I asked myself: what kind of care do I want to provide?
I realized I wanted to offer the kind of medicine that had helped me find sustained relief—the approach that gave me time to be heard, space to understand my own patterns, and tools I could use in my everyday life. I wanted to practice medicine that works alongside other healthcare providers to fill in gaps and look at health from different angles.
So I applied to naturopathic medical school and haven't looked back.
Why I Do This Work
Here's what I've learned, both as a patient and now as a practitioner: willpower and motivation aren't sustainable. We can't force ourselves into health through sheer discipline or by treating our bodies like problems to be fixed.
What works is shifting how we think about the whole thing. Instead of seeing healthy habits as chores or punishments, we can learn to recognize how much better we actually feel when we take care of ourselves. It's like unlearning the cartoon message that vegetables are gross—once you stop fighting against something and start leaning into how good it makes you feel, everything gets easier.
That's what I try to give people: not just a diagnosis or a prescription, but the understanding and tools to solve their own problems. I don't live in your shoes. I can share what the research says, help you figure out what's going on, and point you toward answers—but at the end of the day, you're the one living your life. My job is to ask the right questions, give you the time and space to be truly heard, and help you discover what works for you.
How I Work
In our first appointment, we spend 75 minutes together. That time allows us to really dig into your history, your symptoms, your preferences, the beliefs that might be holding you back, and what you've already tried.
I work with people on digestive health (like IBS and other gut issues), cardiovascular health, and mental health—all of which are deeply connected. And I see myself as part of your larger healthcare team, not a replacement for it. I regularly refer patients to therapists, osteopaths, dentists, and yes, back to their medical doctors when that's what they need. Sometimes the answer requires multiple perspectives, and I'm comfortable saying "let's bring someone else in on this."
My approach is evidence-informed and collaborative. I bring a different lens to your health—one that focuses on root causes, lifestyle factors, and prevention—while other providers bring their own essential expertise. When we all work together, that's when patients get the most comprehensive care.
What I Hope For You
If you've been dealing with symptoms that need a different perspective, or if you're looking for someone who can spend time trying to understanding what's going on and help you make sustainable changes, I'd love to talk.
You deserve care that gives you time, answers, and most importantly—the ability to feel empowered in your own health journey. That's what I'm here for, working alongside the rest of your healthcare team to help you feel your best.
